Celebrating Service

These 5 women, the first five presidents of the The Ed. Foundation, are responsible for countless programs that enhance the education of children here in Port Washington. I was very pleased to have been asked to photograph them in advance of the “Fab 5” Gala at which their contributions will be honored. Join me in congratulating Amy Bass, Laura Mogul, Claudia Rouhana, Robin Sigman and Paula Whitman!

Please consider attending the gala on April 15, volunteering or donating to this amazing organization that does so much for our children!

Lego Valentines

Everything *is* awesome when you can give the kids in your child’s class a Valentine that is 1) home made, 2) features a cute picture of your child, and 3) is candy-free.

Lego Valentine

Last year, I had a great time making these Valentines for my boys. First, the kids constructed a heart using Lego Duplos and I photographed them holding it. Then, I created a printable bag-topper using their photos and a Lego font. The front read, “You’ve got a piece of my heart… please don’t Lego” and the back said “Everything is Awesome, including you, {name}. Happy Valentine’s Day!”

Finally, we made Lego-shaped crayons using a silicon mold (got mine on Amazon). That project was a blast! You break up crayons, put them in the silicon mold, and place it in the oven. The wax melts and fills in the shape. After removing from the oven, you let the wax harden (a short visit to the freezer helps) and then pop out your Lego and minifigure shaped crayons.  The kids put 3 crayons into each small cellophane bag and addressed the cards to their classmates. I folded the cards and stapled them across the top of the bag to seal them.

From my Lego-addicts to yours… Happy Valentine’s Day!

Little Sister

I love watching families I’ve photographed grow! This baby girl was eagerly anticipated by her older brother.

Communion Memories

Congratulations to all of the children who celebrated their First Holy Communion this past weekend! I hope you created beautiful memories.

I wanted to share a few album pages from an album I recently completed. In addition to full body portraits, I was also able to showcase all of those special details from a First Communion – the gown, hair, tiara, rosary, handbag, gloves, shoes, purse and prayer book. I hope you enjoy these beautiful images. I know the family will treasure this photo album for many years to come.

First Communion Portraits

I live very close to St. Peter of Alcantara, a beautiful Catholic church, and am always delighted to see the children streaming out on a sunny May day, dressed in their First Communion finery. They look so proud to have fulfilled an important sacrament, to be the center of attention for the day, and to be made to look like beautiful princes and princesses.  click image to enlarge

I’ve had the pleasure of commemorating this occasion with many portrait sessions. I can also design custom photo thank you cards that are a gracious way to thank those who celebrated with you. Here are some details from a recent custom-designed invitation…

Even if your child’s big day has come and gone, it’s not too late. Book a portrait session while the dress and suit still fit!  After-school and weekend sessions are available, please contact me for availability.

If you would like flowers for your event, or a bouquet for your photo session, contact Amaranthus on Main, who created the bouquets featured above.

Easter Bunnies

Just had to share a quick picture of my boys in their Easter finery! I know my days of dressing them in matching pastel outfits will soon come to an end… which is what makes capturing this memory that much sweeter.

Easter Boys

These beautiful clothes were made by Pennymeade, a wonderful choice for timeless children’s wear.

Mint Julep, Anyone?

A local parents’ organization- The Parent Resource Center – is planning a Kentucky Derby themed fundraising party. One of the key elements to the “Derby” look is wearing a big hat or fascinator. A local accessories designer, ByTina Designs, put together a beautiful collection for the occasion, and I had a great time photographing her creations on two stunning models.

Derby Girls

These girls never tired of changing dresses, makeup, jewelery and accessories — and they kept flashing me these gorgeous smiles again and again.  Browse the images below to see the variety of ways you can style your Derby look!

Happy St. Patrick’s Day!

My three little Irishmen would like to wish you a very happy St. Patrick’s Day!

Attorney Headshots

I love creating polished headshots for all kinds of professional people. This session for an attorney was fantastic because we were able to do some images in my studio and some outdoors. I love the final image she chose, and am happy that she gave me permission to share her bio with you, too.  See below!
