I have to say, I really enjoyed each and every First Communion photo session I did this spring. Eight is a fabulous age – they are independent, interesting people and while they might have better things to do than smile for the camera, all of my subjects were polite and patient and happy to pose.

Miss A was no exception, and what was special about her session is that it was the only one I was able to shoot outdoors, thanks to our rainy spring. Luckily, I found a fabulous spot very close to the location of her celebratory luncheon. The blooming azaleas really set off her dress!

I love the serenity of this image.  It’s gorgeous in color, but the black and white has that timeless quality.

There was much celebrating afterwards and I was so excited to capture this image of Miss A dancing with her sister and dear friend.  If that’s not a classic childhood moment, I don’t know what is.
